Saturdays, December 5 & December 12

Children and their families are invited to create decorations for our Colonial library holiday tree in honor of our Benjamin Franklin exhibit.

Wednesday, December 30, 10:00-2:00 p.m.
All ages
Did anyone ever tell you to "go fly a kite?" Now you'll be able to do that with your very own personalized kite. You provide the design-we'll provide the kite. Take it home with you when you're done. No registration is necessary, but space is limited.

Every Thursday, January 14 through February 4 at 4:00 p.m.
Grades 3 and up
Franklin's main occupation was as a printer. He also wrote a number of books and pamphlets including his most famous Poor Richard's Almanack. Work with other kids during this four week program in composing, writing and producing a newspaper under the guidance of local newspaper editor, Heather Wharton. Everyone will work cooperatively to produce a newspaper.

Grade 5
Well-known authors Dennis and Judy Fradin will travel to our local supporting schools to discuss the important role of Benjamin Franklin. These visits will be for local 5th grade classes only, but the authors' books will be on special display in our Youth Services Department.

Start your weekend with fun facts and favorite stories about Ben the whole family will enjoy. All children are welcome. No registration is necessary, but space is limited.

Sunday, January 17, 2:00 p.m.

Join us as local historian Terry Lynch helps us celebrate the birthday of this special man. We'll have games, stories and a whole lot of fun at the party. No registration is necessary, but space is limited.

Monday, January 18, 10:00 a.m. & 2:00 p.m.
Grades K and up
Did colonial kids play with toys, help with chores, go to school? Learn about life as a colonial kid. We'll play some games and create a craft project. No registration is necessary, but space is limited.

Saturday, January 30, 11:00 a.m.
Grades 2-5
Girls, travel backwards in time to Ben Franklin's neighborhood for a tea party. Do you suppose we'll meet Mr. Franklin? We'll be highlighting Felicity at this tea party. Bring a tea cup and your favorite doll. If you'd like, come dressed up in old fashioned clothes. No registration is necessary, but space is limited.

Wednesday, February 10, 7:00 p.m.
All ages
Franklin was one of the most curious gentlemen of this time period. Students and parents are invited to join a local science teacher as we explore how to use natural curiosity in achieving first place science projects. No registration necessary, but space is limited.

Saturday, February 13, 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
Stroll through Benjamin Franklin's workshop and see what Ben and some of his assistants are working on in the lab. High school students will be demonstrating some of Ben's favorite concepts and experiments. Be sure to stop by each station and see what's brewing.
