    The Orland Park Public Library hosts a monthly book discussion group for adults year round. A copy of the current book can be picked up at the Reference Desk on the 2nd floor of the library.   • Books On The Go Bags

    In order to make it easy and convenient for book clubs and discussion groups to find interesting titles, the Orland Park Public Library is now offering Books On The Go bags for circulation. Each bag holds 12 copies of a single book and one resource guide. The guide includes directions on how to lead a good discussion and information on useful literary databases. It also contains a listing of reference books for readers of popular fiction and nonfiction as well as recommended online resources.

Books On The Go

Isn't reading more fun when you can share your thoughts and opinions with others? Discussion groups are more popular than ever and are providing readers with a way to get together to talk about books.

In order to make it easy and convenient for book clubs and discussion groups to find interesting titles, the Orland Park Public Library is now offering Books On The Go bags for circulation. Each bag holds 12 copies of a single book and one resource guide. The guide includes directions on how to lead a good discussion and information on useful literary databases. It also contains a listing of reference books for readers of popular fiction and nonfiction as well as recommended online resources.

Make your book discussions fun and hassle-free by checking out a Books On The Go bag. If you would like more information about Books On The Go, please contact the Reference/Reader Services Desk at 708-428-5150.

User Guidelines

  • Book discussion duffel bags may be checked out for six weeks and are not renewable.
  • Request and check out bags at Reference/Reader services desk.
  • One person may check out a single duffel bag containing a resource booklet and twelve paperback copies of a title to pass out to group members.
  • Only one duffel bag may be checked out at a time by an individual.
  • Return the duffel bag, resource booklet and twelve paperbacks at the Circulation desk during regular library business hours.
  • Overdue Books On The Go bags will be fined $1.00 per day.
  • Books On The Go are available for reciprocal borrowing but may not be interlibrary loaned.

Book & Movie Mates Personalized Titles

Looking for a good book or film, but don’t have any time to find a favorite author or just disagree with the movie reviews?

Try Book & Movies Mates, a friendly and customized service connecting stories with readers, viewers or listeners. Go to our Book & Movie Mates form and fill out an online personal profile. The completed form will be sent to Reference and Reader Services.

A librarian will review your personal tastes in popular reads and entertainment. The staff will compile a list of potential matches based on the self assessment for likeable fiction, non-fiction or films. A list of suggested titles will be emailed to you within five business days. Any information you supply will be used solely for library business.
