Summer Reading Program 2011

Registration
Begins Wednesday, June 1 in person at any reference desk
Completed book log
Due Monday, June 20 through 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 31
The annual program, which runs Wednesday, June 1 through Sunday, July 31, encourages everyone, especially children, to read during the summer. This year's theme will stress the importance of both reading to grow and living green. In addition to reading great books, members can participate in fun raffles and fantastic programs. Patrons can register in person at any reference desk in the library beginning Wednesday, June 1. The first 1,000 people to register will receive a packet of wild flower seeds. The first day to return your summer reading book logs is Monday, June 20.
This year, OPPL is adding a Family Challenge component to the summer reading program. Teams must consist of two or more family members, ages birth and up, who live at the same Orland Park address. Each member must have a valid Orland Park Public Library card. When all of the family team members complete their summer reading goals, simply complete and return a Team Green Family Read Challenge card at either the Youth Services or Adult Services Desk to be entered in a drawing. This year's Family Read Challenge is sponsored by Champps Americana.
Check the box to the right for your summer reading goal. Patrons who have completed their summer reading goals and return their book log by 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, will receive a 2011 OPPL sustainable aluminum water bottle courtesy of the Friends of the Orland Park Public Library. Limit one water bottle per registered OPPL cardholder with completed book log. Water bottle colors and quantities are limited.
