Butterfly Count: In-Person, Off-site, Outdoor event
In partnership with the Forest Preserves of Cook County, the library is hosting a Butterfly Count! Self-guided butterfly counts will be done Saturday, July 10th at the following locations: Cranberry Slough, Little Red Schoolhouse, Orland Grasslands, Sagawau Canyon, and Spears Woods.
To make sure we get a proper count, choose one of the two training options:
- Butterfly Walk at Sagawau Forest Preserve: In-Person, Off-site, Outdoor event Saturday, June 12, at 1 p.m..

Pick up official count forms from the Orland Park Library (Youth Services or Adult Services desks) starting July 1 and head out to the Forest Preserves to count butterflies.
Once you have finished your count, return your forms to Orland Park Library no later than August 1, 2021. Orland Park Library will compile and submit the data, all you have to do is enjoy the outdoors!
