Kids, teens, and adults: immerse yourself in pop culture! OPPLcon Fan Fest is back for another year of pop culture celebration! Prepare for the spooky and splendid at Nightmare Before OPPLcon. Shop local artists at our Artists’ Alley, attend storytime, and enjoy activities around the library.

  • Family Disney Trivia (Family Event)

    Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 6:30 p.m.
    OPPLcon approaches! Get the family together for a round of Disney-related trivia! Please stop by the Youth Services Desk to sign up your team! Teams can be no more than 6 members. Teams may be combined to include more participants.

  • Teen OPPLcon Volunteers Needed

    Grades 9-12. Calling all Teens! Sign up to help out with various tasks at the return of OPPLcon! This is an all-day commitment that will earn you 6 service hours on Saturday and 1 hour on Friday. You must be willing to help out the whole time. Volunteers will receive a free lunch on Saturday. Training session is mandatory. Registration required.

  • OPPLcon Fan Fest Dungeons and Dragons: How to Play and Q&A (ages 13 and up)

    Saturday, Oct. 22 at 11 a.m.
    Dave Hanson has been playing and running role playing games for over 20 years and wants to introduce you to the world of D7D with this one hour deep dive instructional class. Learn everything you need to start playing D&D with your friends.

  • OPPLcon Fan Fest Learn to Drawn Cartoons (Ages 13 and up)

    Saturday, Oct. 22 at 1 p.m.
    Learn how to draw cartoons and graphic novels from Justin Castenada, a comic artist and children’s book author from Chicago’s south side.

  • OPPLcon Fan Fest Pop Culture Trivia Contest (Ages 13 and up)

    Saturday, Oct. 22 at 3 p.m.
    Tag along with a friend or fly solo to try your hand at our trivia contest. Answer questions about your favorite films, most marveled (wink* wink*) after superheroes, and more. Bring your best sidekicks and strap on your thinking caps as we battle for the top spot at pop culture trivia! Local business gift cards will be awarded. First-$25, Second-$15, and Third-$10.
