Little Free Food Pantry

Girl-Scouts---Little-Free-Food-Pantry

In 2021, Girl Scouts, Jenna and Hailey of Troop 60049, created a Little Free Food Pantry that is now installed on the grounds of the library. They received the Silver Award for their efforts to help curb food insecurity in the Orland Park community. Their scout leaders Sandy Murray and Ellen Haddad helped coach the scouts to find the building plans for the pantry and to raise money for the materials. Hailey’s dad, Nate Krupko, took the lead with helping build and guiding the girls through the building and painting of the Little Free Pantry. The scouts did a yard sign fundraiser in which each girl designed a yard sign with a hopeful message. They sold the signs to help promote hope throughout the community and to raise money for the pantry materials.

The Little Free Food Pantry is open to residents who would like to donate nonperishable food items and/or toiletries. Items may be brought to the Patron Services Desk inside the library.
