Go Greener with
Kill-A-Watt™
ComEd's Smart Ideas for Your Home SM program has donated two Kill-A-Watt™ energy meters to the library for circulation to our patrons to help residents learn about and reduce energy consumption. With it, you'll be able to measure how much electricity your household appliances and electronics consume. Each Kill-A-Watt™ meter kit circulates to Orland Park Public Library cardholders for one (1) week and comes with an easy-to-follow instruction card and worksheet to help you convert electricity use into the corresponding dollar amount. To checkout a kit, please see the staff at the Circulation Desk.

Orland Park Public Library card holders can receive free admission to a variety exciting museums and cultural institutions throughout the Chicago area. You will need to visit the library to pick up a one week pass for the museum of your choice. Each museum is contributing four weekly passes, for two or four free admissions, depending on location. They are available on a first come, first served basis and cannot be reserved.
All you need to take part in these learning adventures is a valid library card. OPPL patrons can only check out passes from the Orland Park Public Library. One Museum Adventure Pass may be checked out per person, per loan period. Stop by any reference desk at the library to check out a Museum Adventure Pass. For more information, visit www.museumadventure.org.

Family and Friends CPR Training Kits
The Family and Friends CPR Training Kit is a non-credentialed course with the intent of informing you about techniques of basic CPR and choking emergencies for an adult, child or infant. The kit includes an informational DVD along with an adult/child mannequin and infant mannequin for practicing lifesaving techniques.
The training kits are available to OPPL cardholders and may be checked out for three weeks. They are ideal for individuals, families, and scout troops. The Family and Friends CPR Training Kits are made possible through the cooperation of the Orland Park Public Library and the Orland Fire Protection District. Please come to the Youth Services Department to check out the kits! The kits are available for a three week checkout and there is a 10 cent fine per kit per day. Kits may be checked out by Orland Park Public Library cardholders.
Check out a Nook
There are two Nooks available for circulation in the Adult Services department and two more available for our homebound library patrons. The Nooks are pre-loaded with a selection of new bestsellers and classic titles. The Nook software allows users to change the text to accommodate readers of both regular and large print books. For more information about checking out a Nook, adult patrons should call the Reference Desk at 708-428-5151 and homebound patrons can contact Kelly Cuci in Outreach Services at 708-428-5114.
