Technical Services Assistant
Part-Time
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our team as a part-time Technical Services Assistant. In this role you will provide essential support to the library’s Technical Services department in the processing of library and other materials.

Responsibilities
- Verifies receipt of materials and approves invoices/packing slips
- Is responsible for processing, modifying, and withdrawing of library materials
- Sorts and routes mail
- Receives and distributes orders/deliveries to appropriate departments and individuals
- Receives and checks in materials and routes them into the department’s work flow in a timely manner
- Handles bindery, discards, and recycle items as assigned
Necessary Knowledge
- Ability to work with reasonable speed and accuracy
- Ability to file numerically and alphabetically
- Ability to concentrate and attend to detail
- Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing
- Ability to use office and library equipment including local and networked computer, printer, copier etc.
- Experience in current technology including Microsoft Windows, Internet, Email (Office 365), MS Office suite (Word, Excel, etc.),and basic troubleshooting
- Ability to reach, bend and lift
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years office work experience
Position is 12 -18 hours per week during the hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., typically 3 shifts per week with a weekend rotation (Sat & Sun).
Starting salary $18.25 per hour.

Adult Services Assistant

- Allocates and monitors Study Rooms in the Adult Services department
- Places holds and interlibrary loan requests
- Helps promote library collection through displays, bibliographies and bookmarks
Necessary Knowledge
- Familiarity with trends in popular adult literature
- Willingness to learn basic reference techniques and resources
- Ability to empathize and relate to patron needs
- Ability to show initiative and use good judgement in making decisions
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of college with one year customer service experience, experience in libraries preferred
- Must be willing to work evenings and weekends
Position is 12-18 hours per week including daytime and evening hours with a weekend rotation (Sat & Sun).
Starting salary $22.10 per hour.

Librarian – Substitute

Are you passionate about books, knowledge and helping others? We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Substitute Librarian to join our team. As a Substitute Librarian, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional library services and maintaining a welcoming and engaging environment for our patrons.
Responsibilities
- Serves as a substitute librarian, providing coverage for scheduled absences of regular librarians
- Assists patrons with reference and readers’ advisory service
- Instructs patrons in the use of electronic resources such as online databases and other equipment
- Assists with special projects as assigned
- Manages and monitors study rooms
- Obeys and adheres to all safety rules and established work practices
Necessary Knowledge
- Possess knowledge of reference and readers’ advisory services
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patrons of all ages and backgrounds
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Library and Information with one year public library experience
- Flexibility and adaptability to work in a substitute role with varying schedules and must be willing to work evenings and weekends
This is a temporary, part-time position for substitute coverage and does not include benefits or guaranteed hours. The schedule will vary based on the availability of regular librarians. Salary is $25.25 per hour.
