5/2/2022 – A library staff member has tested positive for COVID-19. Appropriate staff were notified, and the staff member’s workspace has been disinfected. This staff member did not work with the public in the days leading up to their positive COVID test. Masks are not required to enter the library or attend library programs at this time.

1/10/2022 – A library staff member has tested positive for COVID-19. Appropriate staff were notified, and the staff member’s workspace has been disinfected. Please continue to wear your face masks and socially distance while in the library. The library will remain open.

12/27/2021 – A library staff member has tested positive for COVID-19. Appropriate staff were notified, and the staff member’s workspace has been disinfected. Please continue to wear your face masks and socially distance while in the library. The library will remain open.

12/27/2021 – A library staff member has tested positive for COVID-19. Appropriate staff and patrons were notified, and the staff member’s workspace has been disinfected. Please continue to wear your face masks and socially distance while in the library. The library will remain open, but Pages & Pastries on Monday, Dec. 27 will be cancelled.

12/4/2021 – A library staff member has tested positive for COVID-19. Appropriate staff and patrons were notified, and the staff member’s workspace has been disinfected. Please continue to wear your face masks and socially distance while in the library. There will be no program cancellations at this time, and the library will remain open.

11/15/2021 – A library staff member has tested positive for COVID-19. Appropriate staff and patrons were notified, and the staff member’s workspace has been disinfected. Please continue to wear your face masks and socially distance while in the library. The program, Unsolved Histories: Amelia Earhart’s Disappearance, has been postponed and will not be held Tuesday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m.

4/8/2021 – This page is updated daily. A staff member who came into contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19 has also tested positive for COVID-19. Staff members have been notified. A deep clean and disinfection of the staff member’s department has been completed. No events or services will be suspended due to this instance. The library is open during normal hours.

3/11/2021 – A positive COVID-19 case has been reported from a library staff member. The library collaborates with the Cook County Health Department to promptly identify and monitor individuals who have had recent contact with the COVID-19 positive individual(s) to prevent further spread within our library and community.

Any individuals who have been in close contact (less than 6 feet away for greater than 15 minutes) with an individual that has tested positive for COVID-19 will receive a phone call with resources and next steps. An email will be provided to any individual who was in limited contact (inside for a prolonged period of time, without close contact) with the positive individual asking them to carefully monitor for symptoms and keep us posted if their health status changes.

For each positive COVID-19 case, we have conducted a deep clean and disinfection of the areas impacted by potential exposure to the COVID-19 virus.

The health and safety of our patrons and staff is very important to the library.

2/5/2021 – A staff member who came into contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19 outside of the library has also tested positive for COVID-19. Appropriate staff members have been notified. A deep clean and disinfection of the staff member’s department has been completed.

1/8/2021 – A staff member who came into contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19 outside of the library has also tested positive for COVID-19. Appropriate staff members have been notified. This staff member does not work with the public. A deep clean and disinfection of the staff member’s department has been completed.

12/23/2020 – Due to a staff member testing positive for COVID-19, the Adult Services Desk will be closed for the rest of the day. All potential contacts have been informed. A deep clean of the area will be conducted, and the library will stay open until 9 p.m. The library will reopen on Saturday, Dec. 26 due to the Christmas holiday.

12/21/2020 – A positive COVID-19 case has been reported from a library staff member. The health and safety of library patrons and staff is the library’s highest priority, and we recognize the uncertainty and concern regarding the evolving coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic as well as the stress around all that has transpired due to coronavirus like working from home and e-learning. We are following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as well as state and local health departments for best practices and procedures to protect everyone’s health

We have been asking staff members who are identified as having close contact with the COVID-19 case(s) to quarantine for 14 days before returning to work.

We also have been encouraging ongoing self-monitoring by staff for signs and symptoms of illness and evaluation of illness reported promptly to identify possible outbreaks. Staff reports on their health twice a day while working in the library building.

For each positive COVID-19 case, we have conducted a deep clean and disinfection of the areas impacted by potential exposure to the COVID-19 virus.

As always, we encourage everyone to monitor their health and stay at home if they develop symptoms. Sick persons should contact their health care provider to determine if testing is needed. Anyone who develops severe symptoms is encouraged to seek medical care immediately.

12/9/2020 – It has come to the library’s attention that a staff member has tested positive for COVID-19. The staff member has not been in the building since Dec. 1. The library has contacted those who may have been in contact, and the library will provide any relevant updates.

12/3/2020 – A staff member has tested positive for COVID-19. Due to the limited contact that the staff member had with patrons, staff, and within the library building; the library will not be closing. The staff member, as well as all library staff follow the strict guidelines set forth by the CDC, and all library staff have ample access to and wear protective equipment throughout their workday. The appropriate staff members are quarantining. The department the staff member worked in and the bathrooms have been thoroughly sanitized. The library will keep patrons informed of any further developments via the library website.

10/21/2020 – A staff member has tested positive for COVID-19. Due to the limited contact that the staff member had with patrons, staff, and within the library building; the library will not be closing. The staff member, as well as all library staff follow the strict guidelines set forth by the CDC, and all library staff have ample access to and wear protective equipment throughout their workday. 10/1/2020 – Due to a staff member testing positive for COVID-19, the library will be closing today for a deep cleaning. We hope to reopen by Monday at 9 a.m. You can still return your materials, but no pickup of materials will be available. Virtual programs will still go on.
